1. INSTRUCTIONS

2. EXERCISE 1
WEEK 3
For this task: We need to record the dialogue (by ourself) and find suitable sound effect & ambience sound for a clip from the movie "Everything, Everywhere All at Once"

PROGRESS:
Fig 2.1: Script provided by sir

Fig 2.2: Dialogue recording progression

First, me and my teammates fill up the pre production spreadsheet, including main scene, detail scene, detailed time, sound effect links etc. Making sure our pre production is well planned, so our editing will be smooth. After that, I record my own dialogue.

On Wednesday physical class, sir give us a tutorial about:
1. How do we use pitch shifter
2. How do we adjust the volume

Fig 2.4: Add audio tracks before adding the audio
(Will be more convenient & easy after importing the audio)

FINAL OUTCOME:

REFLECTION:
It's the first time I have tried to record a dialogue. I am a fan of anime & animation, so I have always known "Voice Actor", and through this module I get the chance to do their job!! (Of course they are professional, I am just having fun, and it's fun!!)

3. EXERCISE 2
WEEK 8
For this task: We need to record a 10 second audio in our first language (Mine is Mandarin~) & use Adobe audition to edit our voice into 4 different effects.
1. Phone calling
2. Muffled (Wrap by a scarf/In the closet)
3. Underground/Bathroom
4. Alien

PROGRESS:

Fig 3.2: Build a new session so it won't affect my original track

After all of the preparation, Mr Martin introduce some tools to help us in sound shaping.

Fig 3.5: Reverb effect: Reverb

Fig 3.6: Alien effect: Pitch Shifter+Distortion

FINAL OUTCOME:

REFLECTION:
It's a fun experience!! This is my first attempt in using Adobe Audition, or should I say my first sound shaping experience. It's fascinating that we can use a few tools to add sound effect to the audio.

4. FEEDBACK
"Audio editing is about looking the screen not just listening to it" by sir in class.
*True!! When adjusting the volume, we need to observe the panel & did adjustment if needed.
