1. INSTRUCTIONS
2. PROGRESS
For this module, we are required to design a vehicle and project 2 will
be focussing on the interior & props design.
INTERIOR MAKING:

|
| Fig 2.3: Interior sketch & color blocking Attempt #1 |
As my interior is exposed to the outside, I based my interior design
briefly on my previous project, which focused on exterior design. I
focused on adding vintage and steampunk elements to the interior, such
as levers suggested by Sir, a vintage couch, and a steering wheel
inspired by a vintage 90s car.
|
| Fig 2.4: Interior Adjustment |
After consulting with Sir Kannan, I realized that my steering wheel was
a bit too far from my character. According to my research, steampunk
vehicles often have a larger space for boarding, but their steering
wheels are not attached to the front, while mine refers more to a car.
So, I tried to move the middle part forward a bit and left some space at
the bottom for my character to stretch his/her legs.
Sir feedback:
-Refine the steering wheel a bit yeah, make sure it's grabbable

After consulting with sir Kannan, I refine my 3D blockout before drawing the line art, adding the speed meter, button, level etc.

PROPS MAKING:
|
| Fig 2.8: Props Sketches |
Moving on to the props! I decided to do two props which are
revolver gun & a night vision googles
PROPS JUSTIFICATION:
1. Revolver gun: My character is a trader who needs to
travel through the woods, so having a weapon to protect himself is
essential. Based on my world setting, which is steampunk and 90s
inspired, the most common and classic gun would be a revolver. Besides
that, a revolver is famous for its small size, which makes it handy for
a character who travels a lot.
2. Night Vision Googles: As I mentioned earlier, my
character needs to travel through the woods both day and night. Having
goggles that allow him to see better at night or in misty woods would be
really useful!

Similar to the interior design, I block out the gun before I move on to the line art & coloring. I have made a few attempt according to sir suggestion.
ADJUSTMENTS:
1. The hammer is more ergonomics after adjusted
2. The ring at the front part has been changed into
a extendable tube (More useful)
3. Adding the tactical light
THE CORE FEATURES OF REVOLVER GUN 21:
1. A grip that is easy to hold (Using material & shape to help
on that)
2. A tactical light on the top (Will be handy when my character is
going to use it in the night or in the misty forest
3. The front part is flexible, it can be extended when using it
and it can be shorten when not using it (Easy to store/put in a
pocket
3. FINAL OUTCOME
4. FEEDBACK
INTERIOR MAKING:
1. Refine the steering wheel a bit yeah, make sure it's grabbable
2. Make sure all components follow ergonomics consideration, for example is it easy to grab when driving, can I turn the steering wheel smoothly etc.
PROPS MAKING:
1. When drawing different components, pay attention to the volume (how it's overlapped and constructed), it will be more realistic!
2. Consider the value of each component. Why is it there? What purpose does it serve? That’s what makes your design unique.
5. REFLECTION
In this task, I learned how to improve the quality of my design. These skills can be applied to everything, not just vehicles. Volume is one of the core aspects that I always missed out on, which made my designs look flat. Thanks to Sir Kannan for pointing this out, I think my design really improved after receiving his feedback!!
It is fun to make props and think about what can fulfill your character’s needs; it’s actually kind of fun! Don’t restrict yourself to certain rules either, imagine having night vision goggles as a prop. I could never imagine that I would have this as a prop, HAHA, but now I have the opportunity!
Thinking boldly and slowly refining ideas with practicality is what I have been learning through this module (a suggestion given by Sir Kannan).
