WEEK 10

Lecture:
Intro to After Effect:

What i s After Effect?

:2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing.

:Use to manipulate imagery. This allows you to combine layers of video and images into the same scene.

*Motion Graphics Animation: Manipulating vector and rasterized art to create and tell a story.

Steps for the next task:
1. Compositing in Adobe Photoshop: Make a composition that you want to animate
*All the layers need to be arrange and rename accordingly (Will make the process quicker and easier)
2. Move to After Effect: Start doing the animation

Tutorial & Practical:
Process of WEEK 10 Exercise:
After watching the demo video and recording from Mr Fauzi, I start to do the task.

We download the Photoshop file that was given by Mr Fauzi, and we can start doing it in After Effect.

Organizing every folder and import The PSD file into After Effect

Work on the Bottom circle
(Add rotation and adjust the scale)

Work on the top circle
(Add rotation)

Work on the fish
(Adjust the position)
FINAL OUTCOME:

*Extra exercise I do for fun:

Continue with my Project 2B Poster making:

After finishing the Typography part in Illustrator, I import it in Photoshop to make some adjustment
PRESS ME TO SEE TYPOGRAPHY PROGRESS

I add a touch of oranges on my hair and draw some shadow on the model (aka me) by using the brush tools and change the layer to 'Overlay"

Adding boxes in foreground

I use lass tools to frame the boxes and add adjustment (Brightness and curve)
to bring out the light and shadow

Add shadow for 'THNK'

and DONE!
TITLE: How about we open up the box, and THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX?

DESCRIPTION:
My chosen quote is ‘THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX’.

The poster features a girl who opens a box and thinks outside of it.

I think it is a straightforward, fun, and engaging poster.

Inspired by cartoons, where a light bulb appears next to a character when they have an idea, the poster uses the lightbulb as a light source to create a contrast between light and shadow. This directs the audience’s attention to the word "THINK" and the model.

*Fun Details:

1. The switch and wires on ‘THINK’ are connected to the light bulb and girl.

2.‘Out’ ‘Outside’ ‘外面 (Outside in Chinese)’ are written outside the boxes  (To emphasize the ‘outside’)

REFLECTIVE WRITING:
At first, my sketch was rejected twice, and it definitely affected my mood, not gonna lie. But thanks to those rejections, I ended up creating this final piece, which I absolutely love. It’s the first time I’ve combined Photoshop and Illustrator, and I really wanted to create a realistic surrealism poster. It might sound ironic since surrealism is the opposite of realism, but during the lecture, Mr. Fauzi said that making surrealism look realistic enough for people to believe—despite being impractical or impossible in our world—was the goal. This idea intrigued me, and I really enjoyed the process of creating this poster.

Finding materials and taking the pictures myself was quite challenging. I needed to find specific angles to ensure the perspective in my poster was accurate and would create a realistic look. When taking the pictures, I didn’t have a camera or tripod, so I had to set everything up by myself. I had to make sure the angle was right, and whether my whole body was in the frame, etc. But overall, it was fun! Thanks to Mr. Fauzi, I learned a lot of helpful techniques (such as using adjustment layers, the lasso tool, and double exposure etc), which made my workflow smoother and allowed me to work more freely.

Starting Project 4: Self-Titled:

PART 1: Idea Development

1. Write a biography about yourself

2. Write a statement about your work

3. Study and gather all related information about your topic

MOODBOARD: (3 poster References)

REFLECTIVE WRITING:
First attempt in After Effects! When I first explore After Effects, it's a bit overwhelming for me. I am unfamiliar with it, and it contains so much tools, but after watching demo and having lecture class I am more comfortable with the tools. Overall, it is a fun and new experience, can't wait to add animation in the Self-titled poster project.
