3. WORKING PROGRESS
3.1 Finding quotes

Some quotes that I found:

Your face is the result of thousands of people who loved one another

A mistake is just an information

May everyone greet the dawn
Credit: Speech from actress Park Bo Young

I decided to choose the third quote 'May everyone greet the dawn'.

The reason that I choose this quote:
It is actually an award speech, when Park Bo Young won won the Best Actress award at the Blue Dragon Series Awards, for her role in 'Daily Dose of Sunshine'
(It is a story about a nurse who work in psychiatry department, and her interaction with the patience under her care.) She get to empathize with the people that are suffering with mental problem by playing the role, she hope everyone may greet each new day with hope and strength.

'If anyone is going through a dark and long night, I hope you don’t get too tired and will endure it until the end to see the morning. Thank you. '
- Park Bo Young

I was touched by this speech. Mental health is such an important and timely topic in our society. The fast pace of city life puts a lot of pressure on many people, including myself. Just like Park Bo Young, I hope that everyone can find happiness and excitement in living each day.
(Unfortunately this quote is a bit negative according to Mr Fauzi. Therefore, I start looking for other quotes)

I decided to look for a more famous and well-known quote since my goal is to make it easy for others to understand my poster at first glance. A famous quote seems like a suitable idea.

After some research, I decided to go with: 'THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX'

Adding wire and switch detail to the (font) 'THNK'

The boxes can be labeled as 'OUTSIDE' to emphasize the meaning of the quote

3.3 Inspiration and Art Style

3.4 Rationale

3.5 Working in Illustrator

After working in photoshop, I start to do the typography part in Illustrator.
1. Use 3D effect (Extrude)
2. Stretch out the words to make them taller and thiner
(Create outline > Direct Selection Tool)
3. Choose 'Cardboard Material' and make it darker

For the wire part:
1. Draw out the wire with pen tool
2. Use 3D effect (Inflate)
3. Choose 'Gold Natural' material and change the color into darkish silver (To create metallic effect)

For the button/switch:
1. Use rectangle and eclipse tools to create the shape
2. Use 3D effect (Extrude)
3a. Choose 'Spotted Concrete' material and change the color to darkish silver
3b. Choose 'Default' material and change the color to dark red

DONE WITH THE TYPOGRAPHY PART

4. FINAL OUTCOME

5. SELF REFLECTION

At first, my sketch was rejected twice, and it definitely affected my mood, not gonna lie. But thanks to those rejections, I ended up creating this final piece, which I absolutely love. This is the first time I've experimented with 3D effects. After learning about Chiaroscuro in our lecture class, I’ve always wanted to try applying this technique to my composition. Compared to a flatter design (with no shadows or light sources), I prefer more realistic designs that incorporate light and shadow. That’s why I decided to try 3D— I thought it would work well with lighting and shadows.

It has been a great experience! Playing with materials and lighting has been really fun (although my computer was burning hot). Thanks to Mr. Hafiz, I learned how to create 3D effects, and he gave me plenty of suggestions and advice. My 3D workflow is much smoother now, thanks to his demonstrations in class.
