3. PROGRESS
ALTERNATIVE OUTFIT:

Fig 3.1: Alternative Outfit Attempt #1

Fig 3.2: Alternative Outfit Attempt #2

For the alternative outfit, I went for two direction:
Attempt #1:
Fairytales Day: A day when all of the student have to wear their parents fairytales costumes.

Attempt #2:
Thronecoming Day: A day where all of the student have to vote for a prom queen & king

Fig 3.3: Alternative Outfit Sketches

After deciding the theme, I started to do some sketches:
Attempt #1:
For the original Mulan outfit, instead of the armor I choose the Chinese traditional dress. The dress include the features of the original Mulan outfit,
Features:
1. Long & flowy sleeves
2. Flowing belt
3. Layered dress
4. Mulan iconic black long hair

Attempt #2:
For this theme, to make sure Ping Ann get the title of the Thronecoming Queen I design a prom dress with the features of The Beauty of East Aesthetic,
Features:
1. Dragon and Flame elements
2. Elegant
3. Instead of having sleeves, drawing a tattoo that is related to Magnolia liliiflora (Mulan flower)
4. A clean hairstyle (In Chinese culture we have a term call 大方, meaning clean, confident)

Fig 3.4: Alternative Outfit Color Attempt

Attempt #2 was chosen!

After that, I try to play with the color scheme. I am going for some classic combination which are gold, black, red and green. With some mix & match, I choose the 3rd ones (The one in right). I prefer the combination of red and green, it is a contrast color and link with her hair color.

CHARACTER POSES:

Fig 3.5: Character Poses Exploration

Fig 3.6: Character Poses Sketches

Fig 3.7: Character Poses Clean Line Ver

For the poses, I went for two big direction which is playful that reflects Ping Ann personality
& utilize the short knife.

In the end I choose these three as my final clean up version.
1st: Showcasing Ping Ann fighting gaze and different side of her (As her personality is more playful, being serious is another charismatic side of her)
2nd: Showcasing the movement when Ping Ann is having a fight/practicing with her short knife
3rd: An ending pose when Ping Ann win a fight.

CHARACTER EXPRESSION:

Fig 3.8: Character Expression Exploration

WEAPONS:

Fig 3.10: Weapons & Props Exploration

Fig 3.11: Weapons & Props Sketches & Progression

For the weapon, I am adding Chinese culture element into the short knife.
Features:
1. A dragon scale pattern handle
2. Refer from the original Mulan's knife
3. The top part of the handle is a shape of a chinese knot which is 平安符 (Ping An Fu), a knot that is Ping Ann name (A small detail hehe)
4. The pattern of the knife is Magnolia liliiflora (Mulan flower)

4. FINAL OUTCOMES

5. FEEDBACK
ALTERNATIVE OUTFIT:
1. For attempt #1, you can include Mulan iconic hair feature which isa strand of hair in front of her forehead

WEAPONS:
1. The top part of the handle can try to refer the Ping An Fu instead of a plain shape.

6. REFLECTION
Similar to the previous task, it is a very enjoyable task too! I love we can do a alternative outfit that showcase more different sides of my chaaracter which is very interesting. I love to add small details in the design, my favorite is my weapon. The feedback that sir Fitri gave is chef kiss, I love the Ping An Fu idea SO MUCH!! I am satisfied with my character expression, I enjoy drawing it and I like the outcome too.
