WEEK 11:

Character Board: Compile the visual and narrative description about character's design, personality and identity in a board or document, just like an art book

*Keep it concise and play with the layout

CONTENT:

1. Character Overview

2. Outfit, Expression, Pose, Weapon, Color studies 

3. Splash Art in a preview layout that refer to landing page for games etc

EXPLORATION: 

First, I do some research about the aesthetic of Ever After High.

Key features:

1. Collage & sketchy style, as the core is about fairy tales 

2. Water color droplets & smudge

3. Fancy & vintage book cover, pages

4. Fun doodles that is related to the character

After doing some research and analysis, I have decided to do two backgrounds & three boards

Before working in Procreate, I have found some elements that I can use from Pinterest. Including the paper texture, frame & Ever After High logo etc.

BACKGOUND:

For the default background, I replicate the overall layout based on the reference. Adding features such as some story pages, doodles & water color smudge/splash. 

For the color of the watercolor, I use the color that my character has, which is pink & blue. For the doodles, I draw some hearts and Ping An's short knife.

For the book background, similar to the previous background, I replicate the overall layout but tweak the color to fit my character better!

BOARDS LAYOUT:

First! It's the Character's Introduction board. I have make 2 boards based on this layout.

1. A half body portrait that replicate the reference

2. A full body portrait with splash art

Moving on to the Character's Information Board. Talking about information, it reminds me of yearbook! As Ever After High is about fairy tales, so I decided to use a more vintage book frame and make it look like a book that wrote all of the fun story & progress.

Last, it's the Character's Tales board. As an audience that obsessed with Ever After High, I just think this layout it's too iconic, so I decided to add it in!
