EXPERIENCES
It is a very new experience!! I have never written a dissertation before, so it is something fresh for me. I am not that good at writing papers, but luckily we get to use our DRM from the previous module as a base. During the process, I found designing the layout the most fun! As it is related to designing (which is what we are studying right now, HAHA), and I never expected that I would do kerning again.
This semester, I focused more on other applications rather than Illustrator and InDesign, so I am kind of happy that I got to use Illustrator again (feeling nostalgic). Unexpectedly, I spent more time on the AI rates than I expected. Sometimes the content that I wrote on my own got detected, and I had to spend more time refining it. Overall, it is an interesting module, and thank you, Sir Asrizal, for guiding me and giving useful feedback.
OBSERVATIONS
During visual design, I noticed that colour and font really matter in designing. Even though I know choosing these elements is important, as they are crucial for the whole design, I am still amazed at how powerful they are. My friend and I have completely different topics, and our overall aesthetics look completely different! It is really interesting to me.
FINDINGS
Checking the citing resources is a crucial process. There are multiple criteria to follow in a dissertation, which is knowledge that I never knew before.
There are some aspects that I found I need to improve in the future. First, since this module is based on our previous research paper, I realised that there are many more aspects that can be improved. The depth of analysis, the scope of the survey, and more areas can be expanded to gain deeper insight.
Besides that, for font choices, my friend suggested that I choose a more interesting font rather than basic ones, but that was after I had finished my visual design. After thinking about it, I feel that I should be bolder, as I saw my friend using interesting fonts and the outcome was very appealing. Next time, I will be bolder and try more options rather than staying safe!!
